Grãos de Luz e Griô     Policies

Principles

  • Belief in the transformation of Brazil’ social reality through affective, aesthetic, cultural, productive and ecological education.

  • Hope, pleasure and solidarity in order to build a better world.

  • Valuing rituals for living among others as well as learning focused on the evolution of love and life.

  • Emancipation and autonomy for all participants.

  • Delight in developing theoretical and experimental knowledge for collective well being.

Strategies

Become a Point of Reference

  • We work with a small group of children and adolescents because it is not our role to substitute the public school system’s responsibilities. Our daily hope and work is to become a point of reference that contributes to the evolution of teaching and learning values in the region’s public school system.

Mobilize, Increase Awareness and Organize

  • We learned how to learn from the community, and learned to work and grow together by organizing ourselves through an affective and cultural bond supported by a community network and its projects.

Disseminate Results

  • The references we create in conjunction with the community are not multiplied, but are recreated and disseminated through of student teachers’ pedagogical projects who are qualified to build affective, bonds with themselves, their students, school and community.

Cultivate Solidarity

  • We cultivate a local and global solidarity network through partnerships and constructive and competent dialogue confrontations with governmental sectors, businesspeople and society organized to financially support our projects.

Programs and Projects

Grãos de Luz e Griô have organized the following programs for developing the identity of our participating public:

Development and Dissemination of Education Methodology

We create pedagogical projects through daily living experiences in Grãos de Luz workshops with 65 children and adolescents in the community in order to disseminate this through the Griô Project – mobilization, education, incentive and follow up of 40 municipal educators, as well as strengthening the bonds between schools, the community and a network of cultural groups.

Support and Education for Self-Management

This is accomplished through a daily educational program in “cooperativism” for young people that grew up in the Grãos de Luz workshops and is a guarantee for their social and economic development as well as building citizenship values.

Forming Education Policies

We participate in Municipal Boards in conjunction with the Secretariat of Education with the mission of becoming leaders in order to participate decision making to determine budgets and policies for better quality public school education for sustainable development in Lençóis.
