   Art and Play Workshops

Grãos de Luz promotes daily art and play workshops for 22 children between the ages of 7 and 11 that produce drawings and paintings, investigate diverse materials for recycling, research and create projects for preserving local popular culture and environment. Grãos produces education methodology (Griô Pedagogy ), theater plays, life experiences and exhibitions that mobilize the schools and community.

- What do you want to be when you grow up?
- A decent person.
                                                                       Diego – 10 years old

Daily Ritual
In the art e play workshops we work in various circle groups that are cheerful and liberate movement, dialogues and popular culture, stimulating identity expression, exchanges of knowledge and intimacy ("Grãos e Griô Policies and Methodology Book").

Shared planning of daily activities, development and revision of Rules for Living Amongst Others all stimulate group integration. We also facilitate motor coordination development and follow each student’s growth regarding the challenges of rhythm, coordination, endurance, laterality, balance, speed, agility, flexibility and impetus.

During our daily ritual we reserve a special time for personal games in the Games Corner as well as for the children’s artistic productions that are the result of studies of generating themes regarding the environment, ethnicity, children’s rights and others.

“Take care of your children by taking care of nature. They will need it for their future.”
                                                                                            Ademário, 10 years old.

We develop Story Hour where everyone sits in a circle around the storyteller in the Story Corner. Afterwards everyone sings for their snack, also in a circle, learning to share this moment with joy, harmony and hygiene, taking care of the workshop environment and themselves, washing their hands and brushing their teeth. At the end they sign an attendance book, giving a good-bye hug.
